What is a Hybrid Piano?

Reimagine the acoustic piano with electronic technology, or the digital piano with full acoustic piano action.
Man Playing Piano

Everything you need from digital piano with a full acoustic piano action or a close to real piano action. A hybrid digital does not have an Iron frame or strings, but has a proper piano action with hammers that hit sensors and wooden keys that have optical sensors, you will feel the most real piano action in a hybrid digital as it does have a full real piano action in it. With incredible sound modelling technology and surround speaker projection giving you a close to real acoustic sound.

Silence without sacrifice, practice anytime, any day without disturbing anyone. A real piano with a optical sensor through every key that is a digital conversion to Yamaha’s CFX Grand or Bösendorfer Imperial Gand to headphone audio. The best MIDI accurate conversion and the ability to record, connect to tablet devices, and change the voice of your piano.

Key sensors equipped with continuous-detection grayscale shutter sensing systems accurately capture the nimble movements and detailed nuances of the pianist’s fingers. This makes it possible to execute repeated notes and trills at the edges of keys smoothly and naturally. The sensors are non-contact, so they do not affect the touch of the keys.

When you press the piano keys, its hammer strikes the corresponding strings, and the strings vibrate. The initial sound is small, but the soundboard amplifies it with the entire body of the piano serving as a resonator. The result: the distinctly rich sound of an acoustic piano. TransAcoustic™ technology deftly employs this mechanism of resonance keyed by the soundboard.

TransAcoustic™ technology does not rely on speaker units to produce sound; instead, transducers are used. Transducers convert audio source signals into vibrations, and then relay them to the soundboard. The soundboard amplifies the vibrations, and the entire piano vibrates sympathetically. Even digital audio sources go through the same mechanism of resonance, so that the sound that reaches your ears is as rich as that of an acoustic piano.

Yamaha developed transducers specifically for acoustic pianos, designing them such that only the lightweight vibrating parts are installed on the soundboard. This allows faithful reproduction of the sound of an acoustic piano.

A TransAcoustic™ Piano can also be used as a Silent Piano.
