Millennium III Action
- The Millennium III Action uses ABS-Carbon, a blend of carbon fibre and ABS Styran. This material is both strong and lightweight, allowing the action parts to be durable without extra weight. The outcome is a faster, more powerful action with better control and stability than standard wooden designs.

Extended Length Keys Made with Spruce
Spruce is used for the keys because it is lightweight yet remarkably strong. It flexes very little, ensuring consistent response and allowing every detail of a pianist’s touch to be conveyed, while also remaining durable over time. The keys have been made longer for easier playability and a more even feel across the entire surface. Their slightly taller design adds rigidity, giving the player more power.

Rigid Foundation of Key Stroke
The hammer rail acts as the backbone of the piano’s action. In the GX Series, it is crafted from strong extruded aluminum with a Dual-Beam design for added stability. Both the hammer rail and wippen rail are permanently fixed to maintain precise tolerances and ensure consistent touch over the piano’s lifetime. The rail surface is finely serrated to secure each hammer flange in perfect alignment, while PBT resin flanges keep action screws tight by resisting swelling and shrinkage. Together, these details create a solid foundation for reliable, precise keystrokes.
Tapered Solid Spruce Soundboard
The soundboard is the core of a piano, converting string vibrations into a full, resonant tone. For the GX Series, Kawai uses only quarter-sawn, straight-grained solid spruce. Each soundboard is carefully tapered to allow the right amount of resonance in every region, and only those that meet strict tonal standards are chosen for GX grand pianos.

CORE System
CORE stands for “Convergence for Optimum Reflected Energy.” It describes how the piano’s main structural elements, the rim, plate, and underside beams, are all directed toward a single central point. This design creates a strong foundation that enhances the inner rim’s reflective qualities, resulting in greater tonal power and sustain.
Hybrid Inner Rim
(Konsei Katagi Rim)
The Konsei Katagi rim combines different hardwoods to create a balanced tone. The inner rim layers small-pored hardwoods, which add brightness and projection, with dense large-pored hardwoods that provide warmth and depth. This blend produces the rich, powerful sound that defines Kawai pianos.

Vertically Laminated Bridge

SOLID (Stretcher Over-Lap Integrated Design)
SOLID construction provides a very rigid foundation to support string tension. The pinblock is first fitted to the plate, then combined with the overlapping stretcher bar into a single structure anchored firmly to the rim. The extra-thick stretcher bar demonstrates the strength of this framework, which helps maintain stable tuning and a powerful tone.

Grand Exterior Design
The GX Series preserves the classic design of a grand piano while adding elegant new details. Its gently curved body and broad “Hard Finish” music rest maintain the traditional look and graceful form of a grand piano. The thicker upper beam improves structural strength and enhances the piano’s design, while Kawai’s premium finishing process gives the body a rich, luxurious ebony polish finish.
